Regent Handtailored

In 1946, the businessmen Henryk Barig and Michael Aisenstadt founded the Regent clothing store, which was born in the small German town of Weissenburg. They wanted to combine the classic design, the best materials, and meticulous craftsmanship which together would guarantee high-quality men's clothing. At first, they focused on making shirts, but enthusiastic customers demanded more. Barig and Aisenstadt gladly accepted the invitation, and designed an extensive leisure collection in the spirit of the style of the times. Later, they also created their greatest success: the almost unlined, shoulder pad-less and light Regent suit. Today, such outfits are commonplace and are known as unstructured or deconstructed suits, but in Germany in the '50s and '60s, Regent's creations were something new. In an era of thick wool fabrics, linings and padding, the company brought a cool breeze that was noticed.

Today, Regent has maintained its high quality and craftsmanship. In addition to the formal line, there is a comprehensive leisure collection. It takes at least 15 hours of craftsmanship, around 10,000 stitches and a fair amount of natural materials to make one Regent suit. If Regent Handtailored is not Germany's highest-quality men's clothing manufacturer, the company is at least in the top 3. The company's disadvantage is its unknown stature outside of the German-speaking Europe.
