In 1958, Raffaele Caruso moved from the poor city of Naples to Soragna in the north, hoping for a better life. He founded a tailoring workshop that bore his name, focusing on serving the wealthy population of the area – and it was a success. From humble beginnings, Manifattura Confezioni (MA.CO.), developed a larger company that was able to meet the demand of the '70s and '80s. Raffaele’s sons Alberto and Nicola joined the company in the '90s. In 2000, the current name was adopted and the factory increased its quality and craftsmanship. The investment paid off, as the company went from being a subcontractor for several well-known European companies to a trusted manufacturer.
In 2005, the company made history: it was the first clothing manufacturer in history to receive ISO 9001-certification. The fast pace continued, as a year later Raffaele Caruso went public. Today, the company is one of the most important garment factories in Italy. On its website, Caruso lists a few figures: 50 master tailors, 600 employees and annual sales of 60 million euros.
