Eduard Dressler is a German menswear company founded in 1929 in Grossostheim, Bavaria. The eponymous founder was only 21 years old when he started his company. He decided to differentiate himself from the competitors by focusing on industrial manufacturing instead of handicraft. Especially during the recession, Dressler's prices were more important to the locals than hand-sewn decorations, so the young Eduard succeeded. His son Heinz continued the Dressler family's industrial efficiency philosophy and invested in early computers. In the 1970s, during the company's glory and prosperity days, ED employed over 700 people. In 2004, Eduard Dressler was sold to the horrendously named Holding Brinkmann GmbH & Co. KG.
Today, the company has its clothes manufactured in Europe and specializes in lightweight construction. That is, the chest and shoulders have almost no padding. The majority of the fabrics used by ED are woven in Italy, and the company also commissions fabrics for its own collections. Dressler especially prides itself on materials that are woven to be flexible without artificial fibers.
The company follows German sizing, which has several size categories for different body shapes. That is, tall and narrow, shorter and stocky, regular, and so on. Most of Eduard Dressler's stores and retailers are in the German-speaking Europe. The company is much better known in Germanic Europe than further away from its heartland. The quality and finish are excellent.
